Job Description

The Director of Thermal Development is responsible for leading the development, permitting, and construction of thermal power generation projects, managing project portfolios from inception to operation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of early and late-stage thermal energy projects, managing projects through construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects including budgeting, planning, risk assessment, and setting development priorities.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and third-party consultants on land negotiations, permitting, engineering, interconnection, and legal matters.
  • Facilitate permit strategy, track permit efforts, and obtain entitlements for project construction and operation.
  • Collaborate on site siting, project design, technology options, resource assessments, and procurement strategies.
  • Negotiate critical project agreements such as equipment supply contracts, PPAs, IAs, EPC, and O&M agreements.
  • Conduct due diligence on project or portfolio acquisitions, assessing risks, valuations, and making transaction recommendations.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have 7 years of professional experience in the energy industry.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Ability to work in the Dana Point, Salt Lake City, or Lake Oswego office a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
