Job Description

The Senior Director of Facilities, Maintenance, and Construction leads the operations, strategic planning, and management of existing facilities and new construction projects to support Commonwealth Fusion Systems' mission of developing fusion energy, overseeing teams and collaborating with external partners and officials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations of existing facilities and manage construction of new facilities locally and internationally.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for facilities maintenance, operations, and construction.
  • Manage a team of facilities maintenance professionals, project managers, space planners, and external contractors.
  • Coordinate with local and state officials, property developers, general contractors, architects, and environmental experts.

Requirements

  • Experience in strategic planning and tactical operation of facilities, including managing operations of existing facilities and construction of new facilities, both locally and internationally.
  • Proven ability to manage a collaborative team of facilities maintenance professionals, project managers, space planners, and outside contracting firms to operate, maintain, and build offices and industrial factory space.
  • Experience interacting with local and state officials, property developers, general contractors, architects, and civil environmental experts as a key public-facing representative.
  • Demonstrated leadership in facilities management, construction, and maintenance within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to comply with U.S. laws concerning the export of controlled or protected technologies or information, including export control laws.
  • Educational background or equivalent experience in facilities management, construction, engineering, or related field (implied by senior leadership role, though specific degree requirements are not explicitly stated).
