The Operations Control Center Shift Supervisor oversees the real-time monitoring and control of renewable energy assets, providing leadership to operations staff, ensuring compliance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement in a dynamic, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide supervision and direction to on-shift Real-Time Operations Specialists.
Manage root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes for real-time operations issues.
Monitor and troubleshoot the operational status of wind, solar, and BESS assets.
Identify and respond to abnormal operations or alarm conditions during shifts.
Review operator logs for accuracy and compliance.
Perform acceptance testing on RPMC tools and applications.
Support commissioning and onboarding of new projects and personnel.
Implement and communicate processes and procedures to ensure compliance and quality.
Assist with data requests, RFIs, and other operational duties.
Provide feedback, mentoring, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Act as a liaison between front-line employees and management to ensure clear communication.
Support operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operations
A 4-year degree or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
Able to demonstrate competent technical knowledge of plant and system processes and experience in operating electrical or SCADA systems
Able to interpret NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements
Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet obligations to the Operations Team as issues arise
Knowledge of functional system interactions and the ability to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment
Ability to make financial decisions based on real-time power plant equipment analysis and contract-related cost weighting, risk versus reward
Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
Previous leadership or supervisory experience with direct reports
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback and resolve team challenges
Willingness to work 12.5-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous operations and monitoring of the utility fleet
