The Control Center Lead is responsible for overseeing real-time operations of renewable energy assets, providing guidance to operations specialists, monitoring asset performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations to maintain continuous and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support and guide on-shift Real-Time Operations Specialists in daily activities and responsibilities
Manage root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement processes for real-time operations issues
Monitor real-time activity, performance, and operational status of wind, solar, and BESS assets
Identify and troubleshoot abnormal operations or alarm conditions during shifts
Review operator logs for accuracy and compliance
Perform acceptance testing on RPMC tools and applications
Support commissioning activities for new projects
Assist in onboarding, training, and qualifying new operations specialists
Implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls and quality standards
Support RFIs, data requests, and other operational duties
Provide feedback, mentorship, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and best practices
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in power plant operations
A 4-year degree or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months
Able to demonstrate competent technical knowledge of plant and system processes and experience in operating electrical or SCADA systems
Ability to interpret NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements
Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet obligations to the Operations Team as issues arise
Knowledge of functional system interactions and the ability to pay attention to critical elements in a complex and regulated environment
Ability to make financial decisions based on real-time power plant equipment analysis and contract-related cost weighting, risk versus reward
Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback and resolve team challenges
Willingness to work rotating 12.5-hour shifts, including night, weekends, and holidays, to ensure continuous operations and monitoring of the utility fleet
