Job Description
The Senior Associate at Charles River Associates provides economic analysis and support on competition policy and regulation cases, working on complex legal and regulatory issues, developing economic models, supervising research staff, and contributing to client deliverables in a collaborative consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide economic analysis and conceptual input on competition cases
- Develop and specify economic models to analyze market issues and data
- Supervise, train, and mentor research staff
- Assist in preparing client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers
- Act as a primary contact for legal and industry clients on relevant issues
- Program, build models, and perform statistical and econometric analyses using various software
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
- Contribute to practice development activities such as training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
- Candidates must hold a PhD or DPhil in economics from well-regarded institutions with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organisation or statistics econometrics, as well as a good first degree in economics.
- Candidates without a PhD or DPhil must hold a MSc or MPhil with strong academic achievement.
- Up to 3 years of professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority is strongly preferred; candidates without a PhD or DPhil should have 5-7 years of professional work experience.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, competition policy, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Candidates must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Candidates must demonstrate a high level of initiative and leadership.
- Candidates must have strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
- Candidates must have excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.
