This role involves providing economic and analytical support on competition law and regulatory cases, assisting senior staff with case work related to mergers, cartels, and market regulation, primarily within the European competition practice of a global consulting firm.
Key Responsibilities
Assist senior staff with competition case work by providing conceptual and practical input
Contribute to the analysis and shaping of major competition cases in Europe
Support the preparation of economic analyses related to competition policy and regulation
Participate in the development of arguments and strategies for litigation and regulatory proceedings
Collaborate with team members to deliver fact-based, implementable solutions to complex business issues
Requirements
First degree in economics and a PhD or DPhil in economics from a well-regarded institution with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialism in large data sets, empirical PhDs, or Industrial Organisation and/or statistics, econometrics, plus up to 3 years of relevant work experience.
Non-PhD applicants must have strong academic achievement in a Master’s program, plus 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
Professional work experience in consulting, business, or with a competition authority is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of economic concepts, competition regulatory authorities, competition policy, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills.
