This internship offers an opportunity to work as an economist at Charles River Associates, supporting projects in competition policy, regulation, and economic analysis across various industries, with responsibilities including data analysis, model building, and preparing expert reports.
Key Responsibilities
Identify potential issues and conduct analyses to support economic arguments
Assemble evidence from data and research to support expert opinions and recommendations
Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using statistical software such as Stata, Python, or R
Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers
Communicate complex economic concepts clearly to internal teams
Ensure accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
Requirements
Master's or PhD/DPhil candidates studying economics with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialisation in industrial economics and or econometrics
Fluency in English
High degree of numeracy and the ability to manipulate data
Some research experience
Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership
Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities
Excellent time management and task prioritisation skills
Clear and demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, or activities
Ability to identify potential issues and conduct analyses that can be used to illustrate economic arguments
Ability to assemble compelling evidence from data and research that support expert opinions and business recommendations
Proficiency in programming, building models, and performing regression analyses in statistical analysis programs such as Stata, Python, R, including large data projects requiring use of cloud computing
Ability to assist in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarising opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using financial, market, industry or client-proprietary data
Ability to communicate complicated economic concepts and arguments to internal teams in an understandable, accessible manner
Ability to ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions
