Job Description
The Consulting Associate at Charles River Associates is an entry-level role in economic consulting, working on competition policy and regulation cases by analyzing data, developing economic models, and supporting expert reports to assist clients in legal and regulatory proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior staff and experts on competition cases
- Identify potential issues and conduct economic analyses
- Gather and assemble evidence from data and research to support opinions
- Program, build models, and perform regression analyses using statistical software
- Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables such as reports and white papers
- Communicate complex economic concepts to non-experts
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of analyses and opinions
- Participate in practice-building activities like training, recruiting, and publication
Requirements
- A postgraduate qualification in economics (such as MSc or MPhil) from well-regarded institutions with a strong foundation in microeconomics, preferably with a specialization in industrial organisation or statistics econometrics, as well as a good first degree in economics.
- Up to 3 years of professional experience, ideally in a consulting or competition policy environment.
- Fluency in English.
- High degree of numeracy and some comfort with data manipulation.
- Familiarity with econometric techniques is desirable.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
