The position involves providing economic and regulatory consulting services to utility clients in the energy sector, including advising on rate cases, utility transactions, and strategic planning, with a focus on complex analysis, project management, and client relationship development.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients in the regulated energy sector on utility rate cases, regulatory proceedings, and strategic planning.
Represent utilities and energy firms before regulators and support dispute resolution.
Develop and deliver reports, analyses, and expert testimony related to utility revenue requirements, cost of capital, rate design, and other regulatory issues.
Manage all aspects of utility rate cases and docketed proceedings, including project coordination and client communication.
Provide strategic advice on utility transactions, infrastructure projects, and alternative regulation mechanisms.
Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders in the energy industry.
Mentor and develop junior staff and contribute to team project management.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in the relevant financial, economics, or business discipline is required.
A master’s degree in a relevant field is strongly desired.
At least 6 years of experience working in consulting with energy regulated firms, including experience contributing to the delivery of impactful reports and analyses, and managing projects on a day-to-day basis.
Experience building relationships with clients is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage consulting teams and complex assignments with limited oversight.
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff.
Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills that include the ability to convey complex, technical concepts with impact.
Experience in one or more of the following practice areas: utility revenue requirements, cost of capital, cost of service, rate design, project management involving all aspects of utility state and/or federal rate cases and similar docketed proceedings, alternative regulation including performance-based regulation, multi-year rate plans, energy decoupling, and incentive regulatory mechanisms, transactions involving regulated utilities or infrastructure, strategic advisory for utilities or owners of regulated infrastructure.
Familiarity with ratemaking proceedings, disputes, or other docketed matters.
Comfort working in an unstructured environment.
Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness.
