The position involves conducting economic research, building models, analyzing data, and preparing reports to support client consulting projects in areas such as antitrust, life sciences, and labor/employment, with opportunities for professional development and potential full-time employment after the internship.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research and support economic analysis using quantitative models and data.
Assist in developing and presenting client deliverables such as expert reports and white papers.
Act as a point of contact for attorneys and clients on practice-relevant issues.
Program, build models, and perform statistical analyses using tools like Stata, SAS, Python, R, or Matlab.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of analyses and economic opinions.
Participate in practice-building activities, training, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
PhD degree in economics with a completion date within December 2026 or Summer 2028 and an academic focus on quantitative research, with specializations like industrial organization, applied microeconomics, econometrics, labor, health, intellectual property, pricing and product launch, corporate finance, financial accounting, or other quantitative areas
Strong knowledge of economic concepts and a range of research and quantitative skills
Ability to conduct research in a team-oriented environment alongside respected academics, industry experts, and regulators
Ability to identify and conceptualize issues, support complex economic models to analyze data, and participate in the research process
Experience in assisting in the development and presentation of client deliverables, including expert reports and white papers summarizing opinions, conclusions, and recommendations using market, industry, or client-proprietary data
Ability to act as a point of contact for attorneys and other industry or government clients on a variety of practice-relevant issues
Proficiency in programming and statistical analysis programs such as Stata, SAS, Python, R, Matlab, or Mathematica
Ability to ensure the integrity and accuracy of analyses and opinions
Participation in practice-building activities such as training and expertise sharing
Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership
Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities
Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
Clear interest in consulting demonstrated through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events
Understanding of, and ability to explain, economic, financial, and/or accounting concepts, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods
Experience in Excel, Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, ArcGIS ArcPy, or Cloud computing platforms such as Databricks Spark, Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS
Minimal travel required, with an expectation to spend 3 to 4 days per week in the office, including possible travel to other CRA offices or client locations
