Job Description
This role involves conducting economic, financial, and industry research, developing analysis and valuation models, and supporting legal and regulatory cases through quantitative analysis, report writing, and presentation of findings within a collaborative consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct economic and industry research to understand case issues
- Develop financial and economic analyses or valuation models to support case theories
- Perform regression analyses and build models using programming languages such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, SQL, or SAS
- Analyze and interpret data including financial statements, transactional data, and survey data
- Review and summarize analyst reports, academic literature, client documents, and industry press
- Assist in producing research summaries, expert reports, and presenting findings with visual aids
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of analyses through quality control reviews
Requirements
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a field with an academic focus on quantitative research such as Economics, Business, Finance, Financial Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field, and be graduating in December 2025 or Summer 2026.
- Completion of an honors thesis, research apprenticeship, or research seminar program is highly desired.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to explain, economic, financial, and/or accounting concepts, and quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.
- Experience in Excel, Stata, Python, R, SQL, SAS, ArcGIS ArcPy, or Cloud computing platforms such as Databricks Spark, Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and programming languages.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
- Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
- Clear and demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events.
- Ability to conduct economic and industry research, analyze client materials, and develop financial and economic analyses or valuation models to support case theories.
- Ability to program, build models, and perform regression analyses using languages such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, SQL, or SAS.
- Ability to develop familiarity with data inputs including company transactional data, financial reporting, accounting statements, social and economic survey data, and non-financial measures of organizational performance.
- Ability to review and summarize analyst reports, academic literature, client documents, depositions, license agreements, and industry trade press.
- Ability to assist in the production and development of research summaries, expert reports, and presentation of findings, including creation of visuals like tables and charts.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative environment with colleagues including PhD-trained economists, finance and accounting professionals, CFAs, CPAs, and valuation experts.
- Candidates must be able to spend at least 3 to 4 days a week working in the office, with specific days coordinated with the practice or team, and may include travel to other CRA offices or client meetings.
