Job Description

This role involves assisting with digital forensic investigations related to cybersecurity incidents, analyzing digital evidence, and supporting clients through incident response, data preservation, and security assessments within a consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with security and privacy investigations related to data security breaches and fraud.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of digital information using standard techniques and tools.
  • Identify, research, and organize information to determine hacker activity and data theft.
  • Defensibly collect digital evidence and maintain chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Leverage programming and database skills to support forensic analysis and tool development.
  • Communicate investigative findings to team members, clients, and professionals through reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop new tools supporting digital forensics and incident response.
  • Stay current with developments in digital forensics, software tools, e-discovery, and incident response.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science and Engineering, Digital Forensics, Management Information Systems, Security Information Systems, or a related field, with graduation expected in December 2025 or Summer 2026.
  • Strong understanding of computer operating systems, software, and hardware.
  • Ability to conduct detailed forensic investigations and analyses of computers, networks, mobile devices, and removable media.
  • Experience with conducting digital forensic analyses using commercial and open-source forensic tools, including file system forensics, memory analysis, and network analysis.
  • Experience with conducting static and dynamic malware analyses in a lab environment and threat hunting in a live environment.
  • High-level familiarity with legal concepts related to intellectual property.
  • Experience with drafting technical and investigative reports and communicating technical findings.
  • Understanding of incident handling procedures, including preparation, identification, containment, eradication, and recovery to protect enterprise environments.
  • Experience with utilizing automation tools and scripts to expedite analyses.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and leadership.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Candidates must be graduating from a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, or have relevant work experience, with resume including current address, personal email, and telephone number, and a cover letter describing interest in CRA and how the role matches their goals.
  • Candidates must be willing to work in the United States, with the ability to work at least 3 to 4 days a week in the office, including potential travel to other CRA offices or client meetings.
  • Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in consulting through coursework, work experience, activities, or attendance at CRA recruiting events.
