Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer in Release Infrastructure at Celonis is responsible for developing and maintaining core systems that improve software delivery, automate deployment processes, and enhance reliability for engineering teams, with a focus on scalability, automation, and developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Accelerate software delivery by improving automation and tooling to reduce Time to Production
- Design and implement developer-facing infrastructure to enhance software quality and reduce friction
- Collaborate with leadership to define the vision and roadmap for the internal developer platform
- Lead initiatives to expand GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, and self-service deployment patterns
- Scale feature flag deployment strategies for controlled, reliable rollouts
- Enhance observability, incident response, and deployment safety across the software stack
- Own critical systems from concept to rollout in partnership with SRE, Platform Infrastructure, and Product teams
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in backend, DevOps, and/or platform engineering roles.
- Experience as a full stack engineer, working end to end.
- Strong programming skills in at least one modern language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Solid understanding of modern cloud-native systems, especially containers and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and monitoring.
- Proven ability to lead projects or own critical systems in production.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in building highly available, scalable, distributed systems in a microservices-based architecture (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with GitOps and deployment tools such as ArgoCD, Kargo, Flux, Helm, or Kustomize (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Pulumi (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience with developer platform or internal tooling in a fast-paced environment (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong understanding of SDLC practices (preferred but not mandatory).
- Hands-on experience with IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD (preferred but not mandatory).
- Working knowledge of containerization, network protocols, encryption, and security (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production across multiple infrastructures (preferred but not mandatory).
Benefits & Perks
Base salary range: $164,700 - $214,200 USD
