Job Description
A Visual Designer at Canonical is responsible for developing and applying brand guidelines and UI design systems to create clear, stylish, and user-friendly digital communication materials and products, with a focus on usability, accessibility, and content-driven design.
Key Responsibilities
- Evolve and apply brand guidelines to communications materials, UI design system, and digital graphic design projects
- Create clear, stylish presentations that enhance user experience and accessibility
- Produce content-driven designs that prioritize usability and web standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain design systems and visual assets
Requirements
- Experience as a designer with agency, company, or freelance design experience.
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
- Confidence to respectfully speak up, exchange feedback, and share ideas without hesitation.
- A proven track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results.
- Leadership and commitment to skills development and mentorship.
- Passion for technology evidenced by personal projects and initiatives.
- The work ethic and confidence to shine alongside motivated colleagues.
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Appreciative of diversity, polite, and effective in a multi-cultural, multi-national organization.
- Thoughtfulness and self-motivation.
- Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long.
