Job Description

A senior social media specialist responsible for developing and executing Canonical's multi-channel communication strategies, engaging with global audiences, and enhancing brand presence through content creation, analytics, and community engagement in a remote, tech-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the social media and communications strategy across multiple channels
  • Analyze and report on content performance, campaigns, and channel metrics
  • Support growth and engagement of Canonical's enterprise audience and product adoption
  • Create compelling messaging and assets aligned with brand personality to drive audience action
  • Manage integrated campaigns, product launches, webinars, and industry announcements
  • Package and distribute Canonical's product offerings and educational content creatively
  • Establish standards and lead planning and distribution for organic social media
  • Utilize modern tools and analytics to understand market sentiment and measure campaign impact

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a deep understanding of best practices for communications in the tech industry.
  • The candidate must have deep experience with all major social media platforms, demonstrating strong creative judgment.
  • The candidate must have hands-on knowledge of social media management and analytics tools.
  • The candidate must have an interest in mentorship and team development.
  • The candidate must possess an analytical eye and the ability to develop measuring frameworks to inform senior decision making.
  • The candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the aptitude for forging trusting relationships across diverse, cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with campaign objectives, paid media strategies, and PR AR initiatives.
  • The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability as a content marketer.
  • The candidate must have the ability to prioritize and differentiate what matters from the noise, meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • The candidate must be a process owner for organic social media, establishing standards and leading planning and distribution across channels.
  • The candidate must have an interest in video and production, with some projects or strong thoughts on the use of video in social media.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel up to 4 times a year for internal or external events.
  • The candidate must have experience developing and owning a communications strategy across multiple channels, with a focus on planning, messaging quality, and timely delivery.
  • The candidate must have experience delivering regular analysis and reporting on communications channels, content performance, and campaign results.
  • The candidate must have experience supporting the growth and nurturing of enterprise audiences and increasing product adoption.
  • The candidate must have strong copywriting and asset creation skills to create messaging that aligns with the brand and drives audiences towards action.
  • The candidate must be audience-centric and capable of using modern tools to understand market sentiment.
  • The candidate must have the ability to create awareness on integrated campaigns, product launches, webinar series, industry announcements, and core content, and package product offerings and educational material creatively while overseeing distribution strategy and alignment across channels.
  • The candidate must have a deep understanding of best practices for communications in the tech industry.
  • The candidate must have experience with all major social media platforms and demonstrate strong creative judgment.
  • The candidate must have process ownership experience for organic social media, establishing standards and leading planning and distribution across channels.
