A UX Designer for Infrastructure at Canonical is responsible for creating intuitive open-source tools used to build and manage cloud and data center systems, collaborating with engineering teams to develop consistent and efficient user experiences for complex enterprise products.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop open-source tools for building clouds and managing compute clusters
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape data center and cloud experiences
Support complex products through UX design and heuristic evaluation
Evolve and evangelize design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency
Participate in cross-functional teams to align design efforts with strategic company goals
Requirements
Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university or a Bachelor s or equivalent in User Experience, Design, or STEM or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design
Experience working with complex products and supporting design and UX heuristics
Ability to collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape the future of the Data Center Self-sovereign Clouds
Experience in building tools that enable building cloud experiences such as MAAS, LXD, MicroCloud, and Canonical k8s
Understanding of evolving and evangelising design systems that drive consistency and efficiency
Ability to understand the broader scope of work and its numerous interconnected constraints
Experience supporting working groups to enable design efforts across teams
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, being curious, flexible, and scientific
Result-oriented with a drive to finish work and celebrate success
Confidence in user research practices and engagement with the latest design research and innovation
Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, each up to two weeks long
Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives, and able to present design positions with clarity and precision
Ability to connect design leadership to the strategic vision of the company
