Job Description
A UX Designer for Developer Experience at Canonical is responsible for designing and building tools that improve how open source software is built, packaged, and maintained, collaborating with engineering teams to create intuitive and efficient products that enhance the developer experience globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build tools that enable users to build, package, and maintain open source software
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to improve developer experience
- Support complex products through design processes and UX heuristics
- Evolve and promote design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Contribute to broader design efforts within the organization
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university or a Bachelor s or equivalent in User Experience, Design, or STEM or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, being curious, flexible, and scientific
- Result-oriented with a drive to finish work and celebrate success
- Confidence in user research practices
- Engagement with the latest design research and innovation
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks long
- UX designers should be excellent communicators who are at ease working with a complex mix of engineers, designers and executives
- Ability to present their design position with clarity and precision at cross-functional company meetings
- Confidence and excitement to take on complex design challenges
- Ability to connect their design leadership to the strategic vision of the company
