Job Description
A System Software Engineer role focused on developing and optimizing the Golang ecosystem on Ubuntu, including compiler, tooling, and runtime, to enhance the developer experience and support modern programming languages within an open-source, Linux-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a distributed team to develop and improve Golang tooling and ecosystem on Ubuntu
- Write high-quality code to create new features and debug issues
- Review code and participate in design discussions to ensure architecture improvements
- Integrate and package tooling to enhance developer and operator experience with Go on Ubuntu
- Work with other teams to optimize Ubuntu's performance, security, and reliability across various environments
Requirements
- Relevant Go experience, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux
- Experience in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu
- Long-time Linux user
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
