Job Description
Canonical is seeking a Staff-level Software Engineer to develop and enhance identity and access management solutions across their enterprise products and websites, focusing on authorization, authentication, and security protocols using Go and Python in a remote, globally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement identity management features and enhancements using Go and Python
- Create and maintain web service APIs supporting CLI and web clients
- Review code and ensure quality standards across the team
- Collaborate with distributed teams on strategy, technical efforts, and integrations
- Develop authentication and authorization API endpoints and user authentication flows
- Write Juju charms to manage operational concerns
- Modernize and adopt best practices for identity and access management technologies
- Own the design and delivery of identity management systems at scale
Requirements
- Experience as a staff-level or experienced senior software engineer with specific experience building identity and access management products
- Familiarity with open source software, standards, protocols, and concepts in the identity space such as OpenID, OAuth, LDAP
- Experience implementing authorization frameworks in distributed systems
- Strong understanding of secure coding practices and standards
- Comfortable working on teams that prioritize security and standards
- Proficiency with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform
- Technical background with a professional academic track record from high school and university
- Bachelor's degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events, with each trip up to two weeks long
