This role involves leading the effort to adapt and certify Ubuntu Linux for use in highly regulated, mission-critical industries such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial robotics, by establishing engineering excellence, compliance standards, and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead efforts to adapt Ubuntu for use in highly regulated environments such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial robotics.
Transform complex regulatory, compliance, and certification demands into concrete engineering outcomes and practices.
Drive engineering culture change by leading and challenging teams across the organization to adopt engineering excellence and open-source values.
Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and implement continuous improvement processes and qualification requirements.
Establish methods for measuring and improving engineering quality and culture.
Build strategic relationships with external standards groups, committees, and partners to support certification and compliance efforts.
Requirements
Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment
Knowledge or certification of standards addressing quality of software artifacts such as ISO IEC 25010 or ASPICE
Experience with Linux
Experience in leading successful compliance and certification efforts, including stakeholder management
Proven ability to develop and grow people and teams
Experience establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs
Background as a software developer (preferred but not mandatory)
Ability to transform complex regulatory demands into concrete engineering outcomes and practices
Ability to lead and challenge engineering culture across multiple teams and levels
Experience working with external standards groups, committees, and partners
Experience collaborating with engineering leadership to define and implement continuous improvement processes
Experience defining and establishing qualification requirements to meet engineering quality standards
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
