Job Description
This role involves leading the development and implementation of engineering processes, standards, and practices to make Ubuntu suitable for mission-critical applications in highly regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial robotics, ensuring compliance, quality, and engineering excellence across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to adapt Ubuntu for use in highly regulated environments such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial robotics.
- Transform complex regulatory, compliance, and certification demands into concrete engineering outcomes and practices.
- Drive engineering culture change by leading and challenging teams across the organization to adopt engineering excellence and open-source values.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to define, implement, and improve processes, standards, and qualification requirements for engineering quality.
- Establish methods for measuring and improving engineering quality and culture.
- Build strategic relationships with external standards groups, committees, and partners to support certification and compliance efforts.
Requirements
- Strong experience in engineering and process management in an agile environment
- Knowledge or certification of standards addressing quality of software artifacts such as ISO IEC 25010 or ASPICE
- Proven track record of developing and growing people and teams
- Experience leading successful compliance and certification efforts, including understanding of the process and stakeholders management required
- Experience with Linux
- Background as a software developer (preferred but not mandatory)
- Experience in establishing product engineering development metrics and KPIs
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
