A Solution Architecture Manager at Canonical leads and develops a team of field engineers to design, deploy, and support open source cloud solutions for customers, while actively participating in technical presales and fostering collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of field engineers in presales and professional services.
Solve customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.
Participate in technical presales activities to support sales goals.
Deploy, test, and hand over cloud solutions such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Ceph to support or managed services teams.
Coach, mentor, and provide career development guidance to team members.
Represent the team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
Plan and manage progress on engineering projects and goals.
Collaborate with other teams and leadership to drive organizational and engineering practices.
Requirements
Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers, with a proven track record of developing and growing people.
Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies, such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.
Experience in technical presales, including solving customer problems by promoting technologies and providing technical advice during the sales process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Organized and able to ensure the team delivers timely, high-quality results.
Ability to develop engineering talent and provide career guidance.
Experience collaborating with external partners and internal teams, and providing stakeholder feedback for engineering roadmaps.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, attending internal company events, external tech events, and customer meetings.
An exceptional academic track record from high school and, preferably, university.
