Job Description
A software engineering role focused on developing open source automation and operations code in Python and Golang, working across the Linux stack to improve infrastructure management and DevOps workflows for cloud and enterprise environments at Canonical.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver open source software operations code using Python and Golang
- Work with the Linux stack, including kernel, networking, and storage components
- Develop high-quality open source monitoring and alerting infrastructure
- Rethink open source operations to improve customer and community experiences
- Apply sound engineering design and testing principles in software development
- Follow agile software development practices
- Coach and develop colleagues to foster a collaborative engineering culture
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Python developer with a passion for Python programming.
- Organized with a strong desire to deliver timely, high-quality software.
- Understanding of the importance of reliable operations in an agile development environment.
- Sound knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Practical knowledge of Linux operating system and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to work in a global team environment and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to follow agile software development practices, including sound engineering design and testing principles.
- Willingness to coach and develop colleagues and contribute to a healthy, collaborative engineering culture.
- Willingness to travel globally up to 10% of the time for internal and external events.
