Job Description
Canonical is seeking talented Software Engineers with strong Python, Linux, and packaging skills to develop and maintain tools that support the building, packaging, and distribution of open source software like snaps, charms, and container images, enabling developers to deliver applications efficiently to a wide audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Python tools to support the build and publication process for snaps, charms, and rocks.
- Design and improve tooling that automates software packaging, building, and distribution for Linux applications.
- Collaborate with external open source and commercial projects to enhance community support and integration.
- Work with build systems, toolchains, and container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and LXD to extend the snap build ecosystem.
Requirements
- Expertise in Python programming language.
- Strong understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU Linux distribution.
- Good understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation.
- Experience working with container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and LXD.
