Job Description
This role involves developing open source software for Linux-based systems using Python, focusing on automation, reliability, and scalability within cloud and container environments, primarily Kubernetes. The engineer will work across the Linux stack to improve operations and support the company's mission to enhance open source infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver open source software operations code using Python
- Work across the entire Linux stack, including kernel, networking, storage, and applications
- Ensure application and infrastructure reliability through rigorous design and testing
- Develop high-quality open source monitoring and alerting infrastructure
- Simplify open source operations for customers and the open source community
- Follow agile software development practices
- Collaborate with teams to ensure software operates reliably, efficiently, and scales for production workloads
- Coach and develop colleagues to foster a collaborative engineering culture
Requirements
- Strong Python development skills and familiarity with Kubernetes are key requirements of this role.
- Experience with Linux systems administration, package management, and operations.
- Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Experience as an experienced Python programmer and enjoyment of challenging projects.
- Understanding of the importance of reliable software and striving to design and code to that expectation.
- Ability to work across the entire Linux stack, from kernel, networking, storage, to applications.
- Demonstrated ability to follow agile software development practices.
- Ability to design and deliver open source software operations code in Python.
- Ability to shape high quality open source monitoring and alerting infrastructure.
- Ability to demonstrate sound engineering design and testing principles in your code.
- Organized with a desire for your team to deliver timely, high-quality software.
