Job Description
A Software Engineer at Canonical will develop and maintain open source cloud infrastructure tools, such as OpenStack and Ceph, focusing on automation, high-quality coding, and collaboration within a distributed team to support diverse computing environments worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team
- Write high-quality code to create new features
- Debug issues and produce high-quality code to fix them
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding solutions
- Ensure the success of OpenStack and Ceph on multiple architectures
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Experience with Python programming language.
- Experience with automating infrastructure as code.
- Ability to collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
- Ability to write high quality code to create new features.
- Ability to debug issues and produce high quality code to fix them.
- Experience working with OpenStack and Ceph technologies.
- Experience working with non-x86 architectures, including s390, arm64, power, and others.
- Experience with cloud technologies such as OVN, Openvswitch, and related cloud technologies.
- Willingness to work from home with international travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.
