A Software Engineer - L3 Support at Canonical is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to Ubuntu and various open source technologies, contributing to upstream projects, and supporting enterprise customers across the Linux stack in a remote, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes
Maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support, and product engineering teams
Participate in upstream communities to develop bug fixes, backport patches, and seek upstream inclusion
Review code produced by other engineers
Troubleshoot and drive issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes
Prioritize work and manage time effectively against priorities
Contribute to improving processes, tools, and documentation through team discussions
Requirements
Experience with Linux and open source software
Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux
Background in Computer Science, STEM or similar
An exceptional academic track record
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
Ability to resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes
Ability to maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams
Ability to participate in upstream communities
Ability to develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
Ability to review code produced by other engineers
Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques
Prioritize work and manage your time effectively against those priorities
Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
Maintain clear, technical, and concise communications
Work from home and travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events, and conferences
