Job Description
A software engineer role focused on developing and maintaining open source IoT applications and industrial edge solutions on Linux, involving embedded systems, security, AI, and collaboration within a distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement applications for constrained IoT devices and gateways
- Develop and maintain open source IoT application packages
- Debug issues and produce high-quality, maintainable code
- Review code from upstream and team members
- Collaborate with a distributed team to develop IoT solutions
- Secure deployment of IoT platforms on Linux
- Build optimized AI solutions for local inference on Ubuntu
Requirements
- General knowledge and experience with Linux as a developer platform is required.
- Proven track record of at least 3 years of professional software development using Go or C.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs or asynchronous messaging protocols.
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Ability to collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
- Experience in debugging issues and producing high-quality code to fix them.
- Experience reviewing code produced by upstream and/or other engineers.
- Experience experimenting with Ubuntu Core and showcasing industry-grade IoT solutions.
- Experience with secure deployment of IoT platforms on Linux.
- Experience building optimized AI solutions for local inferencing on Ubuntu.
- Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Linux distributions including Snap, Debian, or RPM packaging.
- Experience with shell scripting.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Github Actions, Gitlab CI, etc.
- Experience with IoT frameworks and protocols.
- Experience with real-time applications.
- Experience with AI/ML inference frameworks.
- Experience with hardware accelerators such as GPU and NPU.
- Ability and willingness to work from home with 2 to 4 weeks of global travel for internal and external events.
