Job Description
A software engineering role focused on developing and optimizing open source networking software across various hardware and software platforms, with opportunities for technical leadership, community engagement, and working on cutting-edge networking technologies within a remote, global team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement software-defined networking solutions for advanced hardware platforms and software stacks
- Collaborate with public clouds and network silicon providers to optimize networking software
- Write high-quality, well-documented, and reliable networking software
- Debug issues and develop fixes to ensure network software performance and stability
- Contribute to technical documentation and open-source networking projects
- Provide technical leadership within the organization and in open-source communities
- Shape and influence networking products to meet evolving data center requirements
Requirements
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path.
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or equivalent experience demonstrating a strong technical background.
- Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations in previous roles or projects.
- Knowledge of networking architecture, design, and protocols.
- Deep understanding of Linux networking, from kernel to user space.
- Fluency in at least one of Golang, C, C++, Rust, or Python.
- Professional written and spoken English skills.
- Experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Passion, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel twice a year, for company events up to two weeks each.
