Job Description
A software architect role focused on designing and evolving Canonical's LXD container and virtual machine orchestration platform and MicroCloud infrastructure, involving leadership in distributed systems, virtualization, networking, storage, and cloud technologies, with a focus on creating reliable and easy-to-use cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD and MicroCloud products
- Mentor, develop, and advise colleagues in their career progression
- Develop software in Golang and C
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Ensure the product is secure and performant
- Provide technical leadership within Canonical and the community
Requirements
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM field
- Experience in developing with Golang and C programming languages
- Experience with storage, networking, and virtualization technologies
- Experience with container technologies
- Experience with concurrent, distributed systems
- Professional written and spoken English language skills
- Experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu operating systems (preferred)
- Demonstrated technical leadership, team motivation, and ability to rally a team to ship outstanding products
- Ability to develop, review code, and ensure the product is secure and performant
- Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure offerings, their APIs, and underlying technologies
- Drive, and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
- Well-organized, self-starting, and able to deliver to schedule
- Professional manner in interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
