Job Description
A software architect role focused on leading the design and development of Canonical's LXD container and virtual machine orchestration platform and MicroCloud infrastructure, involving distributed systems, virtualization, networking, and cloud technologies, with a leadership component to guide engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD and MicroCloud systems
- Mentor, develop, and advise colleagues in their career progression
- Develop software in Golang and C for LXD and MicroCloud projects
- Review code produced by other engineers to ensure quality and consistency
- Ensure the security and performance of the products
- Provide technical leadership within Canonical and the broader community
Requirements
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM fields
- Technical leadership experience as well as team motivation, direction and pace
- Well-organized, self-starting and able to deliver to schedule
- Professional manner in interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
- Experience with Go (Golang) and C programming languages
- Experience with storage, networking and virtualization technologies
- Experience with container technologies
- Experience with concurrent, distributed systems
- Conscientiousness and detail orientation, with a focus on performance
- Professional written and spoken English skills
- Experience with Linux Debian or Ubuntu preferred
