Job Description

A software engineering role focused on developing and shaping the MAAS (Metal As A Service) platform to enable scalable, cloud-ready bare metal provisioning, involving collaboration with global teams and contributing to open source infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop core components and features of MAAS to enhance its scalability, performance, and usability.
  • Shape and simplify the architecture of MAAS for improved efficiency and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and timely release of MAAS.
  • Contribute to continuous integration, testing, and documentation to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Provide technical communication and collaboration with other teams to support project goals.
  • Take ownership of technical problems and drive solutions independently.

Requirements

  • Solid track record of professional software development experience in Python, Go for back-end roles, or TypeScript, React for front-end roles.
  • Experience with Linux server technologies, including but not limited to Virtualization KVM, Containers LXC, etc.
  • Knowledge of network technologies, including PXE, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, NTP.
  • Some experience with Baseboard Management Controllers and Protocols Redfish, IPMI, AMT and others.
  • Strong experience with networking, storage technologies and Cloud hosting and infrastructure.
  • Ideally, experience of large-scale physical server provisioning and automation, including rapid deployment, configuration, management and service orchestration.
  • Familiarity with open source development tools and methodologies used in creation of Ubuntu projects such as MAAS, Juju, Ubuntu Server, LXD, Ubuntu Core, Launchpad, Debian packaging tools APT, dpkg, and snapcraft.
  • A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM or a similar field.
  • Excellent logic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong English language communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
