Job Description
A senior or staff-level engineer role focused on leading the development and enhancement of Launchpad, an open-source platform for managing software projects, with responsibilities including architecture design, coding, troubleshooting, and mentoring within a globally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Influence and drive design, architecture, and feature decisions across distributed teams
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable API-first Python code with unit tests
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges to improve performance and reliability
- Mentor and review code to uphold best practices and elevate team quality
- Collaborate with global teams to build and improve open-source infrastructure and services
Requirements
- Proven technical excellence in Python development and delivering high-quality, production-ready code.
- Experience in maintaining and improving large-scale web applications and database management, with PostgreSQL expertise considered a plus.
- Deep understanding of integration, infrastructure, and operations in distributed environments.
- A security-focused mindset, ensuring robust implementation at every stage of development.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
- Solid grasp of software packaging systems, including Debian and Ubuntu packages.
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Ability to influence and drive design, architecture, and feature decisions across distributed teams to ensure high-impact solutions.
- Experience in crafting API-first Python code with unit tests that deliver robust, well-structured, scalable systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges, implementing high-quality fixes that enhance performance and reliability.
- Experience mentoring and uplifting fellow engineers, leading code reviews that reinforce best practices and elevate team excellence.
- Willingness to travel internationally 2 to 4 times a year to collaborate in key internal discussions and external industry events.
