The role involves leading and developing Canonical's Security Operations Center through security monitoring, threat response, security engineering, and open source contributions, requiring extensive experience in cybersecurity and engineering within a remote, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and operate the Security Operations Center (SOC).
Monitor security systems for threats, respond to incidents, and remediate security issues.
Assess and enhance security controls across Canonical platforms and products.
Lead and mentor Security Operations engineers and team members.
Create and improve security software, tools, and platforms.
Contribute to open source security projects and share threat intelligence.
Plan and execute security initiatives within an agile engineering framework.
Requirements
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative educational or professional path.
10 years of relevant professional experience.
Professional cybersecurity experience, preferably working or leading a Security Operations Center.
Professional engineering experience.
Proficiency in common scripting languages, such as Python and Bash.
Knowledge of Git, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and common orchestration platforms e.g., Kubernetes.
An eagerness to contribute to open source security.
