Job Description
A Senior Design Manager at Canonical leads and manages design teams focused on creating user experiences for open source software related to cloud, AI, and IoT platforms, ensuring quality, consistency, and collaboration with technical stakeholders in a remote, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the quality of work produced by the design team
- Support the professional growth of individual designers
- Improve operational workflows and collaboration processes
- Work with stakeholders to define and validate design outcomes
- Evolve design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Coordinate with design leadership to develop best practices
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen team culture
- Engage with the open source community to promote and learn from the work
Requirements
- A portfolio demonstrating outstanding quality in UX design and savviness in technology
- Exceptional educational achievements in design or related behavioral science discipline
- Full lifecycle experience from user needs discovery through validation and implementation guidance
- Experience managing a team that interacts with technical stakeholders
- Commitment to transparent project delivery and owning team deadlines
- Familiarity with quantitative optimisation approaches
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
