The Revenue Accounting Manager at Canonical is responsible for overseeing revenue recognition processes, systems, and reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS 15/ASC 606, and leading a team to automate and improve revenue accounting practices in a fast-growing, technology-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design standard contracts and drive process improvements in revenue systems.
Automate revenue recognition processes and improve system configurations for end-to-end automation.
Review and evaluate the revenue impact of non-standard contracts and new products.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of revenue and systems accounting professionals.
Assist in month-end revenue close activities, including reconciliations and fluctuation analysis.
Develop and maintain internal controls over revenue transactions and reporting.
Research and prepare accounting memos on revenue recognition and related policies.
Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on order-to-cash matters.
Requirements
A professional qualification in accounting such as CPA, CA, or an equivalent qualification with excellent technical accounting skills and IFRS experience.
An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
A detailed understanding of IFRS 15 and relevant rules related to SaaS and services.
Experience in software licensing, subscription, and services revenue accounting and operations.
Experience driving revenue recognition and scaling accounting processes in a high-growth environment.
Experience with ERP, Rev Rec, CRM, CPQ, and other relevant software categories, with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred.
Leadership or management responsibility experience, including leading, mentoring, and developing a team of revenue accounting and systems accounting professionals.
Experience in a multi-country, multi-currency operations and tax environment.
Professional written and spoken English skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
Ability to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks long.
