Job Description
A Public Cloud Project Manager at Canonical is responsible for leading and managing multiple enterprise-level cloud projects, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder communication, and technical advocacy within a remote, globally distributed team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple public cloud projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within schedule, scope, cost, and resources.
- Identify and mitigate technical and project risks and issues.
- Maintain strong customer relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Conduct regular project status meetings and business reviews with clients.
- Oversee the delivery schedule of third-party deliverables.
- Manage cross-organizational engineering requests outside existing contracts.
- Advocate for Canonical's technologies and solutions to customers.
- Shape Statements of Work (SoW) and similar agreements with clients.
- Lead project teams, including remote and cross-cultural groups, to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
- Proven background in IT Cloud industry as a software development project manager, IT program project manager, agile software manager or scrum master
- Deep understanding of Linux, Open source, and the Public Cloud space
- Software engineering experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience leading cross-cultural, remote and global project teams and customers
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline
- Project Management Certification, preferably PMP or equivalent certification
- Agile Project Management certification, preferably Scrum Master or equivalent certification
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously, including shaping Statements of Work (SoW) or similar agreements with clients
- Ensuring programs and projects are delivered within schedule, scope, cost, budget, and resource expectations
- Identifying key technical and project risks and issues and actively implementing mitigating actions
- Maintaining strong customer focus and working with all key stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
- Conducting regular status meetings and business reviews with customers and providing direction when needed
- Managing the delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables for the project
- Identifying and managing cross-organization engineering requests outside existing business contracts
- Advocating to customers the appropriate technologies from Canonical’s portfolio
