Job Description

A Project Manager at Canonical is responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu embedded systems across various devices, ensuring successful project execution, managing cross-functional teams, and maintaining strong client relationships in a remote, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the complete lifecycle of complex customer-facing projects related to Ubuntu embedded systems
Coordinate and oversee project delivery, ensuring goals are met within scope, time, and resources
Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams and customers for project execution
Develop and maintain project statements of work, schedules, and plans
Manage project risks, issues, and mitigation strategies
Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders on project status
Ensure timely delivery of third-party and internal project components
Support custom engineering requests outside existing contracts
Advocate for appropriate Canonical technologies to customers
Collaborate with cross-cultural teams across multiple regions and time zones

Requirements

Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers
Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English
Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments
PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred
Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
