Job Description

A Project Manager at Canonical is responsible for coordinating and delivering complex customer-facing projects involving Ubuntu embedded systems across various devices, ensuring successful project execution, managing stakeholder relationships, and overseeing technical and logistical aspects of project delivery in a remote, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage large, complex customer-facing projects throughout their entire lifecycle
Coordinate delivery of Ubuntu images on various devices including robots, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems
Act as primary liaison between engineering teams and customers to ensure project success
Develop and maintain project statements of work, schedules, and plans
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve technical issues to meet delivery goals
Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders on project status
Manage third-party deliverables and coordinate with external vendors and partners
Support engineering efforts such as custom board enablement and image delivery
Build and maintain relationships with cross-cultural, multi-region project teams and partners

Requirements

Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services to customers managing software development teams and field engineers
Extensive experience successfully managing projects with cross-cultural and multi-continent internal and external project resources, preferably with resources in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
Good knowledge of Linux and the wider Open Source Software community, and understanding of computer architecture
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, in English
Strong leader and problem solver with extensive experience building successful internal and external partnerships and effective working relationships with demanding project sponsors in complex organizational environments
PMP, PMI, or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred
Ability to work non-standard work hours in support of a worldwide sales and project team
Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
