Job Description
A remote role within Canonical's Partner Engineering Team focused on optimizing Ubuntu for new silicon technologies and architectures, collaborating with global teams to ensure high-quality open source software, and supporting hardware enablement, security, and performance across various platforms and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a distributed team to optimize Ubuntu for new silicon technologies and architectures.
- Evaluate contributions from other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards.
- Shape the future of Ubuntu by contributing new ideas and advising on ongoing work.
- Debug issues in open source and team-maintained code.
- Assist customers with app integration, SDKs, OS image creation, and application optimization.
- Maintain and develop silicon features and optimized packages across various platforms and technologies.
- Work on platform security features such as secure boot, FDE, Ubuntu Core, and Confidential Computing.
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience
- Strong fundamentals in C, C++, and Python programming languages
- Experience or interest in learning Linux distribution packaging
- Experience or interest in open source maintenance or contribution and licenses
- Fundamental understanding of package management and dependency resolution
