Job Description
A Linux devices software engineer responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical code related to software delivery, containers, security sandboxing, telemetry, and device management within the SnapD team, focusing on open source Linux-based solutions and ensuring robustness and performance across multiple Linux flavors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to develop and improve software features
- Write high-quality code for new features and bug fixes in mission-critical systems
- Debug Linux system-level issues and produce reliable solutions
- Review code produced by other engineers to ensure quality and maintainability
- Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding effective technical solutions
- Ensure robustness of software despite unexpected events like power outages
Requirements
- General knowledge and experience with Linux as a developer platform is required.
- A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Professional software development experience using Go, Python, C, or C++.
- Experience collaborating proactively with a distributed team, including writing high quality code to create new features, debugging Linux system level issues, reviewing code produced by other engineers, and discussing ideas to find good solutions.
- Ability to write high quality code focused on robustness despite unexpected events like power outages.
- Commitment to software testing, code reviews, and maintaining high-quality, maintainable code.
- Knowledge of Linux system-level fundamentals, e.g., cgroups, namespaces, apparmor.
- Willingness to work remotely with the possibility of global travel for up to two weeks, twice a year.
