A Junior Cloud Field Engineer at Canonical is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting open source cloud infrastructure solutions such as Kubernetes and OpenStack, working hands-on with Linux and cloud technologies to help enterprise customers adopt private and public cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design and architect private and public cloud infrastructure solutions using technologies like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Hadoop, and Spark.
Deploy, test, and hand over cloud solutions to support or managed services teams.
Develop open source infrastructure-as-code and Kubernetes operators using Python.
Work across the Linux stack, including kernel, networking, storage, and applications.
Collaborate with colleagues to foster a healthy engineering culture.
Engage with customers to provide technical expertise and support cloud adoption.
Participate in internal and external events through travel up to 25%.
Continuously learn and develop skills in open source technologies and cloud solutions.
Requirements
University degree in Computer Science or related software engineering expertise
Sound knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies, such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.
Practical knowledge of Linux and networking
Intermediate to Advanced level of Python programming skills
Demonstrated drive for continual learning
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
Great organisational skills and reliable follow-up on commitments
