Job Description
The IoT Solutions Architecture Manager leads a remote team of field engineers in presales and professional services, helping customers design and deliver secure connected device solutions using Ubuntu and open source technologies. The role involves technical leadership, customer engagement, team development, and collaboration within a global, distributed company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services
- Solve customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects
- Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
- Collaborate with leadership and other teams as part of the leadership team
Requirements
- Location in one of the three Geos (Americas, EMEA, or APAC) to manage a team spanning few timezones, as this is a remote role.
- Lead and develop a team of Field engineers, ranging from graduate to senior, in the areas of Presales and Professional Services.
- Experience of low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development methodologies.
- Extensive embedded Linux experience, with preference for Yocto or other similar platforms.
- Extensive Linux experience, with preference for Debian or Ubuntu.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Ability to manage a small team.
- Experience with customer engagements.
- Professional written and spoken English skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to communicate the business benefits of technology.
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience in solving customer problems by promoting technologies and being a trusted advisor.
- Experience in planning and managing progress on goals and projects.
- Ability to represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Experience working in a remote-first, diverse, distributed company (desirable).
