The Security Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers to develop and implement security measures, respond to emerging threats, and ensure the integrity of Ubuntu and open-source ecosystems, while collaborating with various teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of security engineers
Provide technical guidance on vulnerability remediation
Drive the development of new security engineering projects
Collaborate with upstream open source projects on vulnerability management
Coach, mentor, and support career development of team members
Implement disciplined engineering processes
Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
Plan and manage progress on security goals and projects
Participate in security engineering leadership discussions
Requirements
Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior, providing technical guidance on vulnerability remediation and coaching, mentoring, and offering career development feedback.
Have an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path.
Demonstrate drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Have a love of developing and growing people, with a proven track record of doing so.
Be organized and able to ensure the team delivers timely, high-quality results.
Maintain a professional manner when interacting with colleagues, partners, and community.
Have a solid background in software development, including expertise in support and maintenance.
Achieve mastery in any programming language among Go, Java, C, or Python.
Be knowledgeable and passionate about software and application security.
Have solid experience working in an agile development environment.

Be able to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks each time.
