Job Description
Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager for IAM to lead the development of secure, high-performance identity and access management services using Go and Python, working on distributed systems, cloud, and open source projects in a remote, globally distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Build high-performing Go and Python services for identity and access management solutions.
- Define the technical vision for IAM products in collaboration with product management.
- Manage the software development lifecycle, including designing, coding, testing, and reviewing software.
- Lead and coach a software engineering team, including hiring and performance management.
- Work with upstream open source projects and internal teams to deliver high-quality, deployable software.
- Ensure software security, performance, and scalability in distributed systems environments.
- Participate in open source communities through events, webinars, and conferences.
Requirements
- Proven experience hiring and leading a high performance software engineering team
- Experience with Go and Python software development
- Ability to design and implement complex, distributed systems
- Experience working with container technology and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of software infrastructure security and performance
- Experience designing and or operating large scale distributed systems
- Knowledge of identity and access management technologies and standards is desirable but not essential
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
