Job Description
Canonical is seeking technical Engineering Managers to lead teams developing scalable data solutions for multi-cloud and on-premise environments, focusing on Big Data and MySQL databases, while fostering a culture of engineering excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead teams building scalable data solutions on Kubernetes and cloud platforms
- Hire, coach, mentor, and provide feedback to team members
- Contribute to code development to demonstrate engineering skills
- Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and stakeholders
- Promote and implement modern, agile software development practices
- Ensure delivery of high-quality products and maintain a culture of engineering excellence
- Foster a collaborative and healthy engineering culture aligned with company values
- Collaborate with leadership and other teams to achieve organizational goals
Requirements
- A software engineering background, preferably with experience in Python and Golang.
- Experience running in production and at scale, preferably with Big Data or MySQL.
- Proven ability to build high-quality, open-source software.
- Proven to drive good engineering practices around performance and quality.
- Excellent judgment about people, including their motivations, abilities, developmental needs, and prospects for success.
- Love developing and growing people, with a track record of doing so.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about software development.
