A leadership role responsible for managing and developing a security engineering team focused on enhancing the security features of Ubuntu, particularly through the AppArmor security module, while collaborating across engineering teams to protect millions of users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and career guidance
Implement disciplined engineering processes and measure team health indicators
Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices
Plan and manage progress on goals and projects related to security features
Collaborate with security engineering leadership and other teams to address emerging threats and improve security measures
Requirements
Proficient in C programming language and have a good understanding of Linux kernel development.
Experience working with Linux Security Modules.
Solid experience working in an agile development environment.
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative educational or professional path.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Experience developing and growing engineering talent, with a track record of doing so.
Ability to develop engineering talent, represent the team and product from a technical perspective, and drive collaboration with other teams and customers.
Experience leading and developing a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior levels.
Ability to coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to team members.
Ability to identify and measure team health indicators.
Ability to plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects.
Experience engaging directly with community and customers.
Ability to build trust, relationships, and confidence with colleagues, partners, and community.
Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments.
Willingness to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks each time.
