Job Description
This role involves leading and developing engineering teams in a remote, global environment, focusing on technical excellence, team management, and collaboration to deliver open source software solutions across various domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers across various levels
- Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and practices
- Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Plan and manage progress on goals and projects
- Collaborate with leadership and other teams to shape strategy and roadmap
- Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality results from the team
- Drive team health and performance metrics
- Participate in management and leadership activities
Requirements
- The candidate must have an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
- The candidate must hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or have a compelling narrative about an alternative educational or professional path.
- The candidate must demonstrate drive and a track record of going above and beyond expectations.
- The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- The candidate must have a love of developing and growing people and a proven track record of doing so.
- The candidate must have experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
- The candidate must be organized and able to ensure their team delivers timely, high-quality results.
- The candidate must be well-organized, self-starting, and able to deliver to schedule.
- The candidate must interact professionally with colleagues, partners, and the community.
- The candidate must have advanced expertise in their domain.
- The candidate must be knowledgeable and passionate about software development.
- The candidate must have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
- The candidate must have a demonstrated drive for continual learning.
- The candidate must be able to build trust, relationships, and confidence.
- The candidate must be result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
- The candidate must be able to travel twice a year for company events, up to two weeks each time.
