Job Description

A leadership role overseeing a remote team of embedded Linux field engineers, focusing on presales and professional services activities to help customers design, implement, and troubleshoot secure IoT and edge computing solutions using Ubuntu and open source technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services
  • Solve customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
  • Implement and measure team health indicators
  • Represent the team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
  • Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
  • Plan and manage progress on goals and projects
  • Collaborate with leadership as part of the leadership team

Requirements

  • Location in one of the three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC, to manage a team that spans few timezones within that region
  • Lead and develop a team of Field engineers, ranging from graduate to senior, in the areas of Presales and Professional Services
  • Solve customer problems by promoting Canonical technologies and being a trusted advisor
  • Manage a small team effectively
  • Experience with customer engagements
  • Fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Extensive embedded Linux experience, including Yocto or other embedded Linux build systems
  • Extensive Linux experience, with a preference for Debian or Ubuntu
  • Ability to manage a team and provide coaching, mentoring, and career development feedback
  • Ability to communicate the business benefits of technology
  • Professional written and spoken English skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
  • Result-oriented with a personal drive to meet commitments
  • Academic track record from high school and university
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Other desirable but not mandatory: RTOS experience, additional programming languages (both technical and human languages), and experience working in a remote-first, diverse, distributed company
