Job Description

A Cloud Support Engineer at Canonical provides advanced technical support and engineering solutions for open source cloud technologies, including Linux virtualization, containers, OpenStack, and Kubernetes, helping customers optimize their data-center infrastructure and cloud deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the full cloud stack, including hardware, networking, Linux, and open source solutions.
  • Support and troubleshoot virtualization technologies such as KVM, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Advise customers on architecture deployment, complex problem resolution, and data-center infrastructure operations.
  • Communicate regularly with customers regarding ongoing issues and solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of open source software like PostgreSQL, Corosync Pacemaker, MongoDB, MySQL, and Apache to support customer environments.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, or have the ability to relocate to the location.
  • Apply your knowledge of Linux virtualization using Libvirt KVM, containers, and Kubernetes along with your knowledge of TCP IP networking to support customized solutions for customers.
  • Demonstrate experience with popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, Corosync Pacemaker, MongoDB, MySQL, and Apache.
  • Provide advice on deployed architecture, implement solutions for complex problems, and guide customers to successful data-center infrastructure operations.
  • Communicate regularly with the customer team about ongoing issues.
  • Possess a professional written and spoken English language skills with excellent presentation skills.
  • Have an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or have a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
  • Have a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Have hands-on and extensive working experience in Virtualization Cloud, primarily using KVM or OpenStack.
  • Have experience with Containers, especially with Docker, LXD LXC, or Kubernetes.
  • Have experience with Storage technologies, including block, object, and network storage.
  • Possess cloud computing expertise in provisioning, monitoring, and orchestration.
  • Have professional experience with OpenStack and/or Ceph (considered a strong plus).
  • Have open source development or scripting experience.
  • Have extensive customer support experience, with a focus on prioritizing customer needs.
  • Be able to communicate professionally, emphatically, clearly, and set the right expectations.
  • Be willing and able to travel internationally twice a year for company events, with trips up to two weeks long.
