Job Description
Canonical is seeking a C and Rust Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance graphics and windowing system components within the Mir stack, contributing to open source display technologies and engaging with a global community of developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement features across the Mir graphics stack
- Debug, track down, and fix software issues
- Participate in code and architectural reviews
- Create and improve tests and performance benchmarks
- Maintain documentation to enhance developer experience
- Engage with the open source community and partners
- Collaborate with a distributed team
Requirements
- Strong skills in both Rust and C programming languages
- Minimum of 2 years industry experience in software development
- Excellent modern C programming skills
- Excellent Rust programming skills
- Familiarity with Linux as a development and deployment platform
- Experience in designing and implementing features across a software stack
- Ability to assist in debugging, tracking down, and fixing issues
- Experience participating in engineering processes through code and architectural review
- Ability to create and improve tests and performance benchmarks to catch issues early
- Ability to create and maintain documentation to enhance the developer experience
- Ability to engage with the open source community and commercial partners
- Ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse set of team members and remain highly motivated, productive, and organized
- Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
